This Week’s Tarot Reading
MIND: Queen of Swords
BODY: King of Wands
SPIRIT: Five of Swords
If last week was a happy, sweet cocoon of emotions with someone you love…this week things are shaken up. Partnership is still on the table, but it looks different now. You’ve found some level of clarity and know what you must do to move forward. It’s a powerful combination, this thinking and doing, but not everyone will like the way you’re progressing. Don’t be afraid of ruffling feathers though. Conflict is inevitable because, like it or not, you’ve left the womb. Go forth bravely!

This Week’s Astrology
Sunday, March 20th: Sun enters Aries
Monday, March 21st: Mercury + Jupiter conjunction 18° Pisces
Wednesday, March 23rd: Mercury + Neptune conjunction 23° Pisces
Happy Astrological New Year, Spring Equinox, and first day of Aries season! YOU DID IT! You’ve made it, once again, all the way around the sun. The path starts over today, a beautiful moment for an intentional reset. What do you want the journey to look like this time around? The Sun in Aries (coupled with a Scorpio Moon for the next two days) is immensely powerful- use it to your advantage. Communication also factors heavily this week. You’re ready to speak your truth, but be wary of exaggerations.

What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
I’ve been watching The Dropout on Hulu this past week and it’s…so Aries season.
Based on a true story* it shows the rise, and inevitable fall, of “Theranos” founder Elizabeth Holmes.
*Noticing a theme? The Dropout, Inventing Anna, and Super Pumped (among many other trending shows), are all true stories of entrepreneurs who believed in something bigger but in one way or another, blurred the lines between their dreams and what was actually possible. The Jupiter + Neptune conjunction goes exact next month, and it seems like we’re already getting carried away…by watching others get carried away. “Streaming” seems to be right on the stream of consciousness nose.
Holmes didn’t finish college because she was absolutely obsessed with inventing something revolutionary and felt like it was wasting her precious time.
She wanted to DO, not learn about doing.
Her idea was a good one- collecting a minuscule sample of blood from a patient that could be used for a hundred different tests in a matter of minutes. She knew that quick and affordable blood testing would change the landscape of healthcare forever, and her pursuit was relentless…until it wasn’t. Her venture itself raised millions, but the product ultimately never came to fruition.
Nevertheless, she convinced thousands of people over the course of the business’ lifespan that it was possible to do things differently.
And the whole time? She was fueled by HER ANGER (and green juice).
Not unlike a child, the show depicts Holmes having, sort of…temper tantrums. This is Aries energy- the warrior and the baby. I have no idea if this aspect of her personality is accurate or just a clever way the show decided to portray her volatile emotions, but it’s relatable.
There’s a distinct physicality to her behavior when she’s upset. You see her screaming loudly into the void (rather than directly at other people), and dancing in multiple scenes.
Rather than punching a wall, or even overusing the 🔪🔪🔪 emoji as I’ve personally been known to do…Amanda Seyfried, acting as Elizabeth Holmes, moves red hot hostility, resentment, and likely, fear, through her body.
I’m not suggesting that all matters of negative energy can simply be danced away in our bedrooms, but, neurophysiological findings do support emotion regulation through movement.
Holmes clearly didn’t have it all figured out. I was furious watching her bluff her way through meetings that garnered millions of dollars in support of something that literally didn’t even exist. But she also showed immense strength and ingenuity throughout the process.
Shortcomings aside, she was a leader. And if we don’t have people that inspire us to take the leap, will we ever get to where we’re going?
Maybe the point isn’t never failing…but pushing ahead like only you know how.
Until next week’s magic,
Erin River Sunday
