I found myself in Washington, D.C. over the 4th of July and from the moment I arrived, I had uncanny experiences of being in the matrix.
I took the train there (the US is waaaay behind Europe when it comes to rail travel…but I still highly recommend it as an alternative to flying: better for anxiety, the environment, and the wallet!) and landed smack in the middle of union station. I had been there a few times before, but not recently, and certainly not well enough to know my way around. If you know me personally…you know that I flex my navigational muscles on the astral realm, not the physical plane.
My partner knows this all too well and called me minutes before I stepped onto the cement of our nations capital. He was there waiting and began directing me to his location in the “Kiss & Ride” (say less) by following my little blue location dot.
I giggled as I zigged and zagged through the sea of humans, listening to his voice and looking for the exit. He said “ok, you need to go up” and I looked up. “There’s just the ceiling!” I walked a few more paces then saw an escalator. More giggling. “I feel like I’m in the matrix right now.” He laughed, but continued. We were on a mission. “Look to your left, do you see a door?” I quickly scanned dozens of signs vying for my attention. “YES!!! I see a sign about buses and the doors that lead outside.”
I made it out, still on the phone, and heard him registering that he saw me before I saw him. It felt like a movie when we finally locked eyes across the parking garage. Mission complete.
Another Matrix moment happened the next day at a museum, when I noticed a girl with her presumed boyfriend nearby. I’m not exactly sure what made me pay attention to them the first time, but I saw the pair not once, not twice, but THREE MORE TIMES throughout our day adventuring through the city.
Amidst thousands of people and hundreds of buildings…what’re the chances? Not only that these two couples happened to be in the same place again and again and again, but that I noticed it happening?
I don’t take anything as an accident or coincidence. I told my partner that maybe they were us on a different timeline, or we were them (completely sober rumination). Whatever was happening, it felt like a glitch in the matrix. Something I wasn’t “supposed” to notice, but did anyway. A pattern that felt surprising, interesting.
Both Uranus and Venus were hovering at 29° Taurus at this time, the extreme anaretic degree every planet experiences just before changing signs. There’s an urgency in this space and often a fated nature of wrapping things up.
I’m still not sure what to make of either of my matrix experiences in DC, but that’s not really the point. The point is that I noticed. I was, and am always, paying attention to the Universe and its varied forms of communication. And if you’re hopeful to do the same, Uranus wants to help.
With clients navigating a Uranus transit, or with a prominent natal signature, I almost always laugh and say it’s “hard to do my job with that planet” because it refuses to give any indication of precisely what will happen. Uranus’ only guarantee? SURPRISE!
What we can do with Uranus is commit to noticing the glitches (often found in the house Uranus is transiting in your birth chart).
It might sound like a lot in a busy schedule, but I promise it’s worth it. When you find yourself thinking “OH! That was really…weird” check and see what Uranus is doing— both in the current sky and your natal chart. If it’s happening a lot, you might be in a Uranus transit.
If you’re research minded like me, you can then take it a step further and track those freaky moments and refer back to your notes again and again as Uranus transits happen in the future. Or just notice, then book a reading with me and we can unpack the rest together.
High level overview: Uranus entered Gemini recently, on July 7th, 2025. If you were born after 1948, this is the first time you’ve experienced this energy in your (current) lifetime.
And if you’ve been noticing a fresh web of so called glitches since then…you’re not alone. Uranus only changes signs every 7ish years…so it’s big news. It’s only staying until November 7th this year though, then it’ll be wrapping up its Taurus brand of glitch until April 26th, 2026.
The most valuable thing you can do right now is pay attention. What’s surprising you, specifically related to the way you’re thinking about things and relating to others? Our minds are changing…and this is just the beginning.
Through time and space,
Erin River Sunday
