I’ve never understood the fear people have around eclipses. Unlike a retrograde period, which can be misleading and frustrating, eclipse periods are nothing if not honest.
I guess it’s the marked intensity that makes people nervous. Knowing that the inevitable can happen, and probably will, can be unsettling. But why? Living a life of integrity means never fearing the reception of what you’re owed.
My challenge for you this month is to trust that whatever’s unfolding for you was always going to, for better or worse. No more safety nets, no more excuses, just ownership of the truth.
This energy is raw, it’s karmic, and this year, it’s also served up with a precisely measured spoonful of honey.
Venus in Virgo is the ruler of both the Libra New Moon eclipse on October 14th and the (final) Taurus Full Moon eclipse on October 28th.
Venus is the planet of relationships, meaning themes will be centered around those that we love, those that love us, and maybe even those that love to hate us this month.
People with Venus in Virgo natally make great editors. They know how to remove the fluff and whittle things down to their most essential and supportive core. Bye bye, typos!
We can expect a similar energy throughout October. What needs to be removed from your life, particularly relationally, to move forward in the most constructive manner for all involved? What needs to be released, so that what remains is strong and nimble enough to withstand future challenges?
If you aren’t sure of the answers to these questions, or don’t feel prepared to respond to them with action, don’t worry. That’s currently the Universe’s job.
The beauty of eclipse season (and ironically, what seems to scare people) is that there’s nothing for us mere mortals to “do.” Unlike other lunations that are charged with manifestation potential, this energy simply asks that we surrender.

But remember, surrendering doesn’t mean checking out. Attention is our greatest asset now. Witnessing how we react when things don’t go our way, and when things do, will remind us of our humanity…and hopefully improve it.
If you have any planets or points between 19°-23° of the cardinal signs (Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn) pay close attention to the days around the Libra eclipse on October 14th.
And if you have any planets or points between 3°-7° of the fixed signs (Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius) know that the days around October 28th, the Taurus Full Moon eclipse, will likely speak to you directly.
Whether you have exact placements in Libra and Taurus or not, though, October has “intense” written all over it.
Acknowledging that the people around you are navigating beginnings and endings equally as complex as your own is a beautiful practice at this time. Ready or not, Venus really does just want us all to get along…and empathy is a surefire way to try.
Wishing you a magical month + eclipse season ahead- free of fear, full of surrender, and lots of love.
Through time and space,
Erin River Sunday
