When I was little, I was afraid to play hide and seek.
I was terrified that someone was going to pop out at me from wherever they were hiding, despite that being the actual antithesis of the game. Because of my fear, an irrational one at that, I opted to hide while other kids fought over being in the opposite position- the seeker.
My repeated choice made the game feel more safe…but also not very fun. I would spend stretches of time curled in the back of a closet (there’s a metaphor) or slithered under a bed on itchy carpet.
Despite avoiding what I was afraid of, I was still uncomfortable and ultimately didn’t enjoy the game at all.
The other kids seemed to understand something I didn’t- that if you want to win, you have to be brave enough to poke around in the dark.
I’m learning in adulthood that fear tends to come with the territory. But even if you’re scared, and especially if you’re unsure of what you’re looking for, finding the hidden treasure means electing to search for it.
Making concrete decisions to move forward, albeit still not knowing exactly where to, is a theme for me right now. Professionally, I’ve added a couple entirely new offerings (check out the product below!) and personally I’m preparing to move out of my apartment without a new one lined up.
Upon making the decision to not resign my lease, I didn’t know where I would go next. And I’m still not sure! Besides traveling to Seattle for NORWAC and Portland right after for a quick trip with a friend, it’s still completely unclear to me where I’m going to land.
Unlike playing (or trying to avoid playing) hide and seek as a kid, though, I’m embracing this period as best I can. I’ve jumped enough times to trust that the net will appear, and have also learned that the actual jump is sometimes the hardest part. Ready or not, Aries Season is about doing it anyway.
If you, like me, are on the precipice of a new adventure…trust that most bold takeoffs are also laced with some insecurity (it’s just not the sexy part). Acknowledging that fear is important, it’s what makes us human, but so is moving through it.
So here’s to forward momentum, even if we’re scared of what might be hiding around the corner, and even if we don’t quite know where we’re headed. Go, we must.

And finally, to accompany your foray into the unknown, introducing: 3 of Cups Aura Spray! I’m SO EXCITED to share this offering with you. It was a supremely magical creation process from start to finish and spritzes of it have been especially grounding for me lately. If you’re local to the NC triangle area, please inquire about local pick up/delivery options.
Through time and space,
