Hiiiiiiiiii beautiful angels,
Personally, I’m pretty *over* receiving end of year emails…but I wanted to pop in quickly to say au revoir to 2022 and share just a few things I thought you might appreciate.
First of all- astrology is an insanely beautiful practice. It’s also insanely intricate and can be insanely confusing (especially for beginners). I read Chani’s review of 2022 recently and appreciated how fantastically thorough it was without also being overwhelming.
If you’re trying to learn more about how astrology “works,” take some time to comb through this post. It does a wonderful job of tying the year’s astrological transits to what was actually happening down on our little planet. Our Universe can be a very literal, cheeky little devil and it’s writing like this that, imo, should make a believer out of anyone.
Next, PLEASE DON’T STRESS ABOUT NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS RIGHT NOW!
Jupiter has officially re-entered Aries, which suggests that we’re all ramped up and ready to start something new…however, Mars, Aries’ ruler, is still, still, still retrograde in Gemini. Mercury will also station retrograde in Capricorn tomorrow, December 29th.
This astrology is like a blaring yellow light pleading for caution towards Gregorian calendars. January 1st is just not ideally situated for a great beginning…so if you’re pLaNeTaRiLy InCliNeD at all, I would highly recommend using the next several weeks to continue digesting the year you just accomplished (congrats!!) before trying to dive head first into future aspirations.
What’s a more ~ spiritually attuned~ time to get started with 2023, you ask? I love the New Moon in Aquarius on January 21st.
Mars stations direct on January 12th (hallelujah, hallelujah, HALLLLLLLEEEELLUJAHHHH), then Mercury follows suit on January 18th. That means that all the, ahem, fuckshit, that might have followed you into the new year will be easing up by the New Moon later in the month.
It’s a stellar moment to mark a true fresh start- and as such, I’ll likely be busy cleaning up my own messes until then! You won’t hear from me again until the 21st or after :)
As a final parting gift, I wanted to share a numerology tool that I’ve been obsessing over lately. Have you heard about the “personal year number” before? It’s a truly magical way to create a relationship with numbers that’s all your own- and 2023 has big time ME! energy.
Feel free to use the calculator tool that I linked above, but it’s simple to do by hand. Here’s how it works:
Add up the month number and day number of your birthday.
Then add up the numbers of the year you’re focused on. S
Lastly add those two numbers together to get your personal year number.
My 2023 marks a “1” personal year in numerology which feels super on brand. That means 2022 was a “9” year for me and lets just say it was full of 🎵brown paper packages tied up with string.🎵
I closed so many different chapters in my life and feel excited and ready for new beginnings in a way I haven’t in a really long time.
I’ve found this practice to be helpful when relating to other people, too. It’s a quick way to frame where others are in their journey and adds some helpful perspective. I might be jumping into a lot of new things next year, but maybe you’re entering a 7 year and focused on deepening your spiritual work.
I’d love to know what personal year you’re entering in 2023, or which one you’re wrapping up from this year. Does it resonate? Drop your personal year(s) in the comments or email me to chat about it!
Wishing y’all as much patience as possible as we retrace and rework over the coming weeks. 2023 is full of major transits—are you ready for it?
Through time and space,
Erin River Sunday
